Bound Volumes FAQs
What are local historic newspaper edition books:
The books are bound copies of original press-run newspapers from the time and publication specified on the inventory page. While we cannot guarantee that a specific date or event will be represented after purchase, you can contact us at historicbooks@lee.net, and we will do our best to find out before purchase. The editions are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. There are no duplicates. Each edition is a truly unique look back in time.
Your inventory indicates that the local bound volumes may be in “good”, “fair”, or “poor” condition. What does that mean?
Each range is an approximation based on the general appearance and quality of these historic newspapers and their bound outer covers:
- Good-condition books generally are free of any damage to the contents or binding.
- Fair-condition books may show slight wear or damage.
- Poor-quality condition books may have damage but are still considered sound enough to offer for sale.
Books that were significantly damaged will not be offered for sale.
What size are the books and how much do they weigh?
Size and weight vary, but in general the books are roughly 24” x 18” and can weigh upwards of 25 lbs.
What does shipping cost?
Shipping and handling will be $89.00 due to the size and weight of the historic books.
Are there other options?
You may arrange a pickup appointment of your historic book at 1398 Capital Avenue between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM, based on staff member availability.
What if the historic newspaper book is not what I thought it would be; are refunds available?
Unfortunately, refunds will not be offered. We have done our best to provide contact information to verify dates and events before purchase, and we have noted our assessment of the quality of each historic book.
